Connect Your Custom Domain
Point your domain to your Spawned app. Covers DNS setup and getting your SSL certificate working.
Before You Start
You'll need:
- A domain name (from Namecheap, GoDaddy, Google Domains, etc.)
- Your app deployed on Vercel
- Access to your domain's DNS settings
Step 1: Add Domain in Vercel
- Go to your project in the Vercel dashboard
- Click Settings → Domains
- Enter your domain (e.g., myapp.com) and click Add
Vercel will show you the DNS records you need to add.
Step 2: Update DNS Records
Log into your domain registrar and find DNS settings. You'll need to add:
For apex domain (myapp.com):
- Type: A
- Name: @ (or leave blank)
- Value: 76.76.21.21
For www subdomain:
- Type: CNAME
- Name: www
- Value: cname.vercel-dns.com
Step 3: Wait for Propagation
DNS changes can take 15 minutes to 48 hours to spread globally. Usually it's under an hour.
You can check progress at dnschecker.org
Step 4: SSL Certificate
Vercel automatically provisions a free SSL certificate once your domain is connected. Your site will be accessible via HTTPS with no extra setup.
Troubleshooting
"Domain not found" error - DNS hasn't propagated yet. Wait a bit longer.
SSL certificate failing - Make sure your DNS records are correct. The CNAME for www should point to Vercel, not your old host.
Redirect loops - If you're migrating from another host, make sure to remove any old redirect rules.
Subdomains
Want app.myapp.com instead of myapp.com? Just add it as a new domain in Vercel and update your DNS:
- Type: CNAME
- Name: app
- Value: cname.vercel-dns.com
